The Plan God Has For You
The story behind one the best piece of advice I have EVER been given-
Sometimes you just need to stop talking and learn to listen. By you I mean everyone. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own thoughts and ideas that we forget how to listen. Every single person around you has something to offer you. Whether it’s the homeless man on the corner or the president of the company you work for, just listen.
For me, this came from an engineer I met at work. Have you ever met someone that you instantly clicked with? Someone that you just simply enjoyed their company? I know what you’re thinking, this is some kind of love thing, right? Well, that couldn’t be more wrong. He is happily married and I am engaged to the love of my life. People can be just friends. So, with that being said, this is the story.
When working together we would go to Starbucks almost every day for lunch just to get out of the office. What was just a coworker turned into a great friend and advice that changed my life.
There we were on the way to Starbucks on Monday afternoon. He always knew my passion of being a health coach and dream of making it my full-time career. I would talk to him every single day about my undying motivation and determination to succeed. How this dream consumed my every thought and how I will work as hard as possible to get to where I want to be.
He was always extremely supportive and motivating of my ventures and growing business but this time he chose to give some advice rather than just supporting what I was saying and it went something like this –
“Sometimes you can work so hard towards your plan that you veer off the plan that God has for you. You’ll work so hard toward your goal and you may reach it, but then you’ll find yourself fighting so hard just to keep it. When you work hard and let God guide you on hi plan, that’s when you’ll be successful.”
I was speechless. This stuck with me. That very day I changed my perception on my hustle to not what I want, but what God has planned for me. I stopped caring so much about followers and likes and more about the gift I have been given and how I can use it to benefit other people and change lives.
That very week my motivation skyrocketed, my business flourished, and I was stock full of new ideas on ways I can expand myself as a person and let God work through me.
That day I started this blog.
